Luxury Hotels in Hanoi
Hanoi's top-end hotels split roughly into two camps: restored French colonial landmarks with real history, and modern five-star towers with rooftop pools and skyline views.
Colonial-era icons
A handful of grand hotels dating to the French colonial period anchor Hanoi's luxury scene, known for their architecture, history, and central locations near Hoan Kiem Lake and the Opera House. These are as much a destination in themselves as a place to sleep — even non-guests often stop in for afternoon tea or a drink in the historic bar.
Modern five-star towers
Newer international five-star properties, mostly clustered around West Lake and the diplomatic/business district west of the Old Quarter, offer larger rooms, rooftop pools and spas, at the cost of being a short taxi ride rather than a walk from the Old Quarter's sights.
What to weigh up
Location matters more here than in most cities: a colonial-era hotel near the lake puts you in walking distance of everything but with more traffic noise; a West Lake tower gives you quiet, space and views, but means relying on Grab to reach the Old Quarter each day.
